A Fashion-forward Celebration: F&B’s Chic Wedding at the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh
There’s something utterly magical about a wedding in the heart of Edinburgh. Add in a historic venue like the Royal College of Physicians & a fashion-forward couple like F&B, & you’ve got the recipe for a truly unforgettable celebration.
This wedding was the perfect storm of elegance, editorial style, & emotion - a dream for any luxury wedding photographer. As someone who’s had the privilege of photographing weddings all over Scotland, I can confidently say the Royal College of Physicians is one of the most iconic & awe-inspiring venues in Edinburgh.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings at the Royal College of Physicians
The Royal College of Physicians isn’t just a wedding venue - it’s a work of art. With its grand Georgian architecture, ornate ceilings, wood-panelled libraries, & sweeping staircases, every corner tells a story. It oozes heritage, sophistication, & charm. Basically, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to whisper when you walk in… until the music starts & the champagne flows.
From a photographer’s perspective, the venue is a playground of light & texture. The high ceilings & tall windows let in the most delicious natural light (hello, glowy ceremony shots), & the dramatic interiors offer a rich backdrop that requires little to no dressing. Honestly, I could shoot here every weekend & never get tired of it.
A Ceremony Surrounded by Literature & Love
F&B’s ceremony took place in the College’s breathtaking library, a jaw-dropping setting lined floor to ceiling with antique books, glittering chandeliers overhead, & green velvet chairs adding a rich pop of colour. Walking down the aisle in that space felt like stepping into a scene from a romantic period drama, if that drama had impeccable taste & killer lighting.
Let’s talk about the fashion: the bride stunned in a structured off-the-shoulder gown with long gloves & an armful of calla lilies (a nod to understated luxury if ever there was one). The groom & his groomsmen brought serious James Bond energy in their tuxes, complete with classic black bow ties & a healthy dose of charm.
Editorial Portraits with a Dash of Drama
One of the highlights of the day was capturing portraits on the grand staircase, a signature space at the Royal College of Physicians. That staircase practically begs for editorial magic, & F&B delivered. We leaned into the fashion-forward aesthetic, mixing classic compositions with moments of unposed realness, resulting in images that feel like they could live on the pages of a luxury bridal magazine.
Whether it was a fleeting kiss mid-staircase or a slow, cinematic walk through the candlelit grand hall, every frame was filled with emotion, intimacy, & timeless style.
Dinner, Dancing & the Kind of Joy You Can’t Fake
The reception took place in another stunning room with deep red walls, towering columns, & oil portraits that looked like they were judging table manners (but in a loving way). Long banquet tables were adorned with tall candelabras, & the room glowed with that golden, old-world warmth you only get in a place with real history.
The evening flowed effortlessly, from heartfelt speeches & cheeky toasts to a packed dance floor where F&B absolutely brought it. There was so much love, so much laughter, & just the right amount of mischief. Exactly my kind of wedding.
