A Dream Wedding at Gosford House: Katharine & Michael

Gosford House is one of Scotland’s most breathtaking and exclusive wedding venues. A true architectural masterpiece nestled in the East Lothian countryside, just outside Edinburgh. When Katharine & Michael chose it as the setting for their wedding, I knew we were about to create something incredibly special. Elegant, grand, & full of character, this wedding had everything I love to photograph - timeless fashion, real emotion, & a location that practically begs to be immortalised in photographs.

If you’re looking for a luxury wedding venue that blends romance, opulence & history, a Gosford House wedding is in a league of its own.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Gosford House

As a photographer, I’m always chasing light, emotion, & honest beauty - Gosford House delivers all three in spades. From the moment you walk up the grand stone staircase to the first time you step into the marble hall, the atmosphere is electric. Every room tells a story. Every window casts perfect, buttery light. & the sheer scale of the place? It’s cinematic.

The interiors are a dream for editorial wedding photography - high ceilings, sweeping staircases, huge windows, intricate marble detailing. Then there’s the exterior, with its stately columns, symmetrical grandeur & private grounds that stretch for miles. Basically, it’s impossible to take a bad photo here - though I do try to take very good ones.

Katharine & Michael: Style Meets Substance

Katharine looked like she had walked straight out of a Vogue editorial, her off-the-shoulder gown with that thigh-high slit? Chef’s kiss. Michael in traditional Scottish attire brought a touch of heritage & warmth, creating such a beautiful juxtaposition against the palatial setting. Together, they were stylish, relaxed & completely in love - my favourite combination.

From champagne in hand in the getting-ready rooms, to their effortless portraits by the windows, every frame was soaked in natural elegance.

The Ceremony, Confetti & All the Magic

The ceremony took place beneath Gosford’s incredible archways, a backdrop that needs no dressing. As the newlyweds exited to a flurry of confetti, the joy on their faces said it all. It was one of those moments you just know will become an all-time favourite in their wedding gallery (and yes, maybe in mine too).

Afterward, we wandered through the grounds, stole a few quiet moments between the couple, & let the house do what it does best - frame the magic.

Inside Gosford House: Marble, Chandeliers & Big Feelings

The reception unfolded across the house’s jaw-dropping interior. That grand staircase? A moment in itself. The bridal party portraits in the marble foyer looked like a movie still. The speeches were full of love & laughter, & the evening light spilling across the stone walls during the first dance? Literal perfection.

There’s something about Gosford House that makes every moment feel grander, more cinematic, more timeless. It’s a venue that elevates every photograph - not just because it’s beautiful, but because it feels special.
